Tips and Other Information: The South Platte running through Elevenmile Canyon is fishing good to excellent right now. Fish the transition areas and deep holes and slots with lots of weight. Effective patterns include: #14 San Juan Worms, #18 Red Coppper Johns, #20-22 Mercury Pheasant Tails, #20-22 RS II, #20 Jujubaetis, #18 Buckskins, #18 Mighty Mite Baetis, #20-22 Rainbow Warriors, #20 Black Beauties, #and #20 Benton’s Shuck’n Midge. Anglers can expect good hatches of midges, caddis, pale morning duns, and Tricos. Hoppers and caddis have been fooling some nice fish near grassy banks and overhanging willows. As the flows drop, the dry fly fishing will continue to improve. Anglers can expect good caddis and midge hatches when the sun goes behind the canyon walls. Stay late and enjoy a slice of heaven!
