I grew up in New England and learned to fish from my father. I began like many other kids bouncing salmon eggs off the bottom of streams. Whenever there was time dad and I would go fishing. He spent countless hours untangling knots and helped me become a patient fisherman. He taught me much about reading the water too. Fishing with my father still remains a special experience. The only difference now is that I am untangling his knots.
My passion for fly fishing began years later and consumes much of my free time. I even gave up snowboarding because winter fishing here in Colorado is so good. When I was approached about guiding I was unsure but am so happy that I tried it out! It is my pleasure to have guided for the Blue Quill Angler since 2004 where I enjoy working with anglers of all abilities and tailoring the trip to meet my clients' needs. I am fortunate to be surrounded by expert anglers, fly tiers and helpful people in the shop.
I thoroughly enjoy the challenge of fishing public waters. I believe that public water really helps to facilitate a realistic experience. Part of fishing in Colorado typically includes being able to contend with the constantly changing conditions like water fluctuation, weather or intense crowds. Public water usually offers a good challenge.
