This is a comprehensive starter course for women only. The Blue Quill Fly Fishing for Women course is held on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 6:00pm to 9:30pm and all day Saturday on the river. It is taught by instructor and guide, Sarah Barclay.

This class is limited in the dates available and is not offered on a weekly basis. The purpose of this class is to help students develop the skills and understanding necessary to catch trout on a fly rod. The first two sessions introduce the student to fly fishing theory, rigging the rod, casting, knot tying, and entomology (as it pertains to fly selection). The Saturday on the river focuses on developing critical techniques in fishing nymphs, dries, and streamers. Sarah also covers the topics of wading safety, trout behavior, entomology, reading the water, playing, landing, and releasing fish.

The Blue Quill Angler will provide the student with a rod and reel for the day, if needed, but it is the obligation of the student to supply a valid Colorado fishing license, flies, waders, and other terminal tackle. Your instructor will go over the gear needed on Tuesday night. After this discussion, you will have an opportunity to purchase what you need from the shop. Also, we have rental waders available for $10 a day. The student must be a minimum 12 years of age.

Women's 201 Class
Designed as a continuation of our Introduction to Flyfishing 101 class or as a refresher class for those who would like to continue learning more about the great sport of flyfishing. The 201 class gives the angler more experience with aquatic entomology and how it relates to selecting the right fly, rigging techniques, including fishing two dry flies, dry dropper and fishing two and three nymphs. Special attention will be given to where the fish are in the stream, and how to figure out an effective "on stream strategy" that can only be determined by spending time on the river. One classroom instruction on Monday June 13 at the Blue Quill angler from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. One full day of instruction on the water on Friday June 17. Cost is $150.00 and limited to 6 anglers.
