Czech Nymphing, Polish Nymphing, or European Nymphing is a style of nymph fishing that is readily catching on here in the United States, especially in Colorado. It is a very effective technique that is perfectly suited for the many fast waters of our state. This style of short line nymph fishing often uses longer rods, no strike indicators, and a different leader construction designed to get your heavily weighted flies, often three, down to the bottom quickly. All of the weight used in a Czech Nymph rig is added to the flies themselves. The flies are color coded in order to provide the angler a method in deciphering the proper weight for any given circumstance on the water.
The course is taught by Blue Quill Angler owner and Sage School Instructor Steve Parrott who has studied and practiced these techniques for several years. Steve has also developed a series of Czech Leaders and Indicators that are becoming very popular within the Czech Nymphing community.
The Czech Nymphing class is held on public waters of the South Platte or the Blue. The class consists of two sessions. The first is an evening preparation session that meets at 6:00 pm and covers the history, theory, and how to rig for Czech and European nymph fishing. The second session is an all day on the stream class. The class is limited to 6 anglers. The cost is $85.00 per angler.
