WOW!! That was our first response when handling this little gem. Incredibly light in hand and the perfect action for fishing to smaller fish with the European Nymphing Methods that are gaining popularity here in the States.
The Sage ESN 10 foot 4 weight will become you go-to rod for fishing the European Styles of nymphing. It will handle bigger rivers as well as larger fish with ease. Strike detection on this 4 weight is incredible due in part to the Konnetic Technology graphite combined with a supple tip section that will transmit every little detail.

I love this rod. Bought it one month ago and have used it 5 times nymphing in fast and heavy pocket water. It's got a nice soft tip to absorb shock and keep the little guys from bouncing off. The mid and butt sections are much stronger and can handle bigger fish well. I like it for dries too...have used only in heavy pocket water with short line delivery and high stick. The 10' reach is great for that and the soft tip makes it easy to flick the short casts. The downside of the extra length is having to use a larger reel to balance it out. I paired mine with a Sage 4260 and it's still a little tip heavy. I'm going to add a butt cap with some ballast to counter balance the length.
