This is a great reel it is not the top line but it performs very well the drag is great for trout. I live and fish in the eastern sierra I fish several 100 days a year! And I am hard on tackle.

When you make an online purchase it’s so important that the online store you’re dealing with provides excellent customer service, because when something goes wrong you’re going to need their cooperation. This is where Blue Quill Angler really impressed me.
I purchased a Ross CLA reel, fly line and backing from BQA. I chose BQA for this purchase because I had bought accessories & flies from them previously and they had emailed a discount coupon to me for my next purchase. They also have very reasonable shipping and handling charges, which is something you don’t often see from online stores.
After making the online purchase I received a phone call from BQA asking if I would like the line & backing loaded on the spool at no extra charge! What! Who provides service like this?
I received the reel a couple of days later and it was ready to go. Unfortunately, during my first trip to a local river I found the drag on the reel to be faulty, it was grabbing and releasing, not at all smooth. I was a bit upset because I had a trip planned for the following weekend and I really wanted to use my new gear. So, I first called Ross to see if there was something I could do to correct it, but they stated that it sounded like a defect in the drag and it would need to be replaced. They told me to first call BQA and see what they could do to help. This is where BQA’s customer service really came through. I explained the situation and they contacted Ross directly to arrange for the warranty exchange. They had Ross ship me a return kit for the faulty reel, but they also had them ship a new reel before the faulty reel was received. Most online stores would have left the phone calls and return arrangements up to the customer, but BQA sets themselves apart because they truly understand the value of customer service.
I returned the faulty reel as soon as I received the return label from Ross and I received the new reel before my weekend trip. I would like to add that Ross Reels did a great job here as well, and the new Ross CLA reel is terrific.
Great products at competitive prices, very reasonable shipping costs & excellent customer service, no need to go elsewhere. I’ve already spread the word to the all my fly fishing friends.
