Designed by Tim and Team USA's Pete Erickson, these powerful, moderate- to faster-action "long-light" European-style nymphing rods deliver critical feel and line control with an added bonus: They'll actually cast a dry fly when your feeling dirty. An optional competition package (sold separately $74.99) includes two 6" extensions that add extra reach, either 6" or 12", a screw-in fighting butt and counterweight washers that fine-tune balance. The ultimate fishing competition rod, bar none.

This is the perfect trout rod. I have fished this rod in NC, TN and recently in Michigan. Nymphing, dries and emergers and have loved every moment with this rod.

I bought the Echo Shadow II after taking Steve's Intro to Czech nymphing class this spring and paired with a Lamson Konic with Euro Nymphing line. I must admit, at first I was little taken aback by the feel of the rod, being used to my 9ft Orvis 5 wt. However, after straight 3 days on the water I am very impressed with the sensitivity for detecting subtle strikes and the ease of flipping the weighted nymphs. I was also happy to see it could handle a larger fish (+17in) in very fast water. Though I have to say I was a little nervous by the bend in the tip on the bigger fish at the net. Another slight warning is if you are like me and used to shorter rods, beware overhanging limbs the extra foot is really more difference than you might think.

I ordered this rod after talking with Steve and I am extremely happy with this purchase. I bought it to improve my euro nymphing and I couldn't be happier. I've also used it to toss small dries as well and it has been more than adequate. I would highly recommend this rod to anyone looking for a more dedicated nymphing setup. Definitely consider the competition kit as well!
