Tips and Other Information: Fishing has been good to excellent in the general Deckers area. The most reliable section is always above the Deckers Bridge. The lower river has been excellent too, but as previously addressed, clarity may change depending on afternoon rain showers. Anglers can expect hatches of stoneflies, midges, pale morning duns, blue-winged olives, and Tricos. Effective patterns include: #18-20 Barr Emergers, #20-22 Sparkle Wing RS II’s, #20-22 Mercury Midges, #16 Oliver Edwards Yellow Sallies, #16-18 Elk Hair Caddis, #8-10 Amy’s Ant, and #18 Pale Morning Duns. Dry/Dropper rigs have been especially effective, fished tight to banks, logs, and dark-substrate areas. You’ll “pound up” some huge rainbows with this pattern. Crowds have been very heavy, especially on weekends. If you see anyone poaching, please call 911. This has been a horrible problem lately! Help us protect this struggling fishery…
