Small lakes and stock ponds in North East Texas were my introduction to the sport of fishing.. Bass, Blue Gills, and Crappie were associated with equipment names such as Heddon, Pflueger, and chugger. Open-face reels, free-spinning spools, and graphite were still to become house-hold fishing names as I pursued fishing during grade school, junior high, and high school.
After moving to Colorado in the mid-1970s, my fishing was interrupted and the energy was directed to the National Ski Patrol at the Loveland Ski Area. Only in the late 1990's was fly fishing added back to my outdoor activities. Through encouragement from others associated with fly fishing, skills such as casting and reading water became enhanced; new skills such as fly tying, guiding and being a fly fishing instructor began to take shape.. Today I am proud to share these skills with Blue Quill Angler guests.
Fly fishing should be a sport that brings lasting memories and great excitement for all.. My expectation is to add these to your experience. My excitement for the sport sometimes exceeds that of a guest when a trout is hooked and landed!!!
